THE MOST USER FRIENDLY EYEGLASSES
Panto was introduced to the market in a time where big size lenses were not available. Accordingly, the true panto glasses are designed and produced in not so big sizes. This is another “secret” of why the glasses fit the face, are lighter than most other eyeglasses and have the thinnest lenses
- • “Plus-lenses” for farsighted/hyperopic are convex lenses. They are thicker on the center of the lens, thin at the edge. If you want to fit plus-lenses into a BIG frame, you need a large diameter of the lenses. Since the power of the lenses are directly linked to the curve of the lens, you will get a lens with a much higher center thickness than for a tailor-made smaller diameter frame. Thick lenses = heavy lenses = cosmetic high magnification of the eye.
- • “Minus lenses” for myopic/shortsighted are concave lenses. They have a thin central area and gets thicker at the edge the bigger the diameter of the lens is. To fill up a big diameter model of glasses, or fames with a corner that extends far from the center, you will get much thicker lenses than for a smaller rounded shape. Large diameter minus lenses with thick edges, will result in the unnecessary and unwanted optical esthetic result, appearing as thick lenses.
A rounded shape as panto, oval or circular glasses with no sharp corners results in the esthetically best result and lightest glasses.
